Ares Panther ProgettoUno

Back in 2017, a company called Ares Design out of Modena, Italy, announced it would build a modern tribute to the legendary DeTomaso Pantera of the 1970s. Last year (2019) the car was finally unveiled in-full and known as the Ares Panther.

The car fuses traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge engineering and manufacturing technologies. Constructed in carbon fibre, this most revered of Italian supercars is powered by a 5,204cc, naturally-aspirated V10 engine which develops 650hp and 600Nm of torque. Power gets to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Top speed is above 320Km/h with an acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 3,1 seconds. Dry weight of the car is just: 1423 Kg.

The interior of the car can be totally bespoke, from Nappa leather to the up-to-date Alcantara, delicate in its eco-sustainability and with all the grit and personality of the racing-oriented world. Panther ProgettoUno is a living creature and thanks to its hand-crafted interior is able to adapt and compliments in with whoever sits inside. Once seated, passengers and car become one. The design of the seats has been entirely developed by ARES, who chose and moulded the carbon fibre to create both the external and the lower cover. Its racing character is emphasized by the leather and Alcantara upholstery, but without neglecting maximum comfort.

A newly designed transmission system has the traditional open grid look but houses a modern DCT unit providing the driver with an unparrelled driving experience. Outside, the music of the movement, the voice of the living creature. Inside, the incomparable vividness and quality of its sound. ARES is the first automotive company to work with Daniel Hertz, the renowned Swiss company founded by Mark Levinson, specialists in highest fidelity audio systems. The technology developed by Daniel Hertz for the home audio systems has been redesigned specifically for the Panther ProgettoUno, integrating 3 tweeters, 4 mid-rangers and 4 woofers. A sound experience never lived before.

Personally, I’m in love with its retractable headlights, which brings me back to the 90’s.

Just 21 examples of the Panther will be built by the design house, headed by former Lotus boss Dany Bahar. Ares Design is producing the model as the first of several custom design creations that use the Huracán’s platform. Production has already begun.

With a starting price of 615,000 Euros (around $697,000) before taxes, is according to its status and exclusivity.
