Goodwood (FOS)

One of the most important automotive events that happen in July is the Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS), which is an annual short hill climb featuring the most astonishing cars of the year in question, as well as historic motor racing vehicles, and mentioning that is an important stage on which automakers present their latest creations. The Goodwood Festival of Speed (FOS), was founded in 1993 by Lord March in order to bring motor racing back to the Goodwood estate, a location steeped in British motor racing history.

The infrastructure of this complex is located in the grounds of Goodwood House, which is located in West Sussex (south United Kingdom), and it is only 100 km from London.

The Goodwood event is classified as a hill climb, which is a branch of motorsport in which drivers compete against the clock to complete an uphill course. The Goodwood track has 1.89 Km distance with an average gradient of 4.9%. Currently (2021), the record of the Goodwood event was set in 2019 by Romain Dumas in an electric Volkswagen IDR at 39.9 seconds.

It is important to mention that since its creation, this event has become one of the most importants in the world, due to the fact that every year congregates the best cars in the world showing its capabilities. Also, is important to mention the activities that took place during the event celebration, such as demonstration area for the rally cars (Forest rally stage), Michelin Supercar Paddock, where car manufacturers show off their latest sport models and prototypes, The Arena, where professional drivers showcases drifting and stunt driving, Future Lab, Cartier Style et Luxe, Moving Motor Show and other related of course with motorsport.

We must not forget that since 1997 has been installing a display on the lawn in front of Goodwood House, in which every year honoured some remarkable aspect of the motor world (brands, relevant characters, etc).

The artist behind these creations is Gerry Judah, who was born in India but developed his career in UK. Gerry Judah has been creating these masterpieces for the Goodwood Festival for no less than 20 years. His first creation was in 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Ferrari and since then have been many brands with something to celebrate that have passed through his creative genius.

This year’s edition (2021) will take place from July 8 to 11, and, as always, will bring together fans from all over the world.
